Program and Policy Specialist – Jackson County Health Department

The Jackson County Health Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Program and Policy Specialist. This position will provide support to the Jackson County Health Department’s ongoing initiatives and operations through providing health promotion, policy and systems change, and disease prevention programs and activities for the citizens of Jackson County, primarily in Eastern Jackson County. The Program and Policy Specialist will work to develop key community partnerships, facilitate the community health improvement process, submit grant applications and proposals, develop and implement strategies that address established community health improvement priorities.

Minimum education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education, or other closely related field. Candidates should also demonstrate a working knowledge of health promotion and education theories and practices related to: public health, epidemiology, disease prevention, behavioral change, group process, community organizing and mobilizing, social justice, and adult/child learning.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education or other closely related field. Preferred knowledge includes knowledge of principles, techniques and application of behavioral epidemiology as related to health education and promotion as well as knowledge of social marketing principles and mass media communication.
