Epidemiology Specialist

  • Plans, develops, designs, and/or conducts epidemiologic studies of disease or injury occurrence, including evaluation of behavioral and/or clinical interventions
  • Develops intervention strategies, policies and procedures; evaluates new and existing prevention and control programs based on epidemiologic findings
  • Reviews and evaluates disease or injury reporting and surveillance systems; advises program administrators of incidence and/or prevalence changes within reporting areas
  • Conducts on-going epidemiologic studies to investigate, identify and analyze incidence, prevalence, trends, and causes of injuries or diseases
  • Conducts or assists with in-depth investigations of disease clusters using epidemiologic methods, including gathering information and/or biological specimens
  • Conducts field interviews of cases, potential cases, control subjects, government officials, and others to ascertain disease incidence and/or prevalence
  • Maintains contact with community physicians, hospital staff, and other professionals to encourage proper reporting of injuries and diseases
  • Communicates with health care providers, social service agencies, schools, government officials, media, and the public concerning disease and injury investigation, prevention, and control
  • Protects patient confidentiality in disease investigation, reporting, and information dissemination and maintains electronic systems to support appropriate handling of protected health information
  • Prepares investigation reports, basic statistical analyses, and summaries on completed epidemiologic studies/evaluations and maintains accurate and organized work records
  • Exercises significant independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of scientific articles and presentations for professional groups, and clearly communicates the findings of epidemiologic studies
  • Assumes responsibility for sentinel surveillance collection of reports and analysis/reporting
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  • Reports for special assigned duties during a public health emergency, if applicable
  • Participates in activities and training to further own professional development
  • Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance
  • Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles and physical abilities

  • Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Plan; complies with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan and Compliance Policies and Procedures, including training requirements.

Clinical Nurse Ambulatory RN

The Registered Nurse provides services in an ambulatory or long-term care setting.  Provides care to patients with acute, chronic, and/or terminal illnesses.  Performs an assessment based on the patient’s diagnosis, reason for entry into the system, and care needs. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, perform, delegate, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care. Other duties include interdisciplinary team involvement, committees, program evaluations, research, education, and the supervision of students.  Performs duties within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and established organizational and regulatory requirements.

Public Health Office Assistant

Provide continuity in achieving patient throughput. Is the first contact with patients who arrive for public health services at the health department and in many cases is first time contact via the telephone. Provide registration services, prepare the patient for treatment, generate the patient record, ensure necessary documentation is completed, including completion of patient satisfaction survey, maintain accountability of revenues collected and follow up with patients as necessary. Provide valuable accounting, record keeping, data entry and inventory functions.
